In January 2020 our group returned from our seventh Northeast VOSH mission to Panama. The Cocle Hotel in Penonome was our base of operation and we traveled 40 minutes daily up the hillside to the Instituto Carmen Conte Lombardo to host our clinic. We again ran our second very remote clinic in the high hills of Ol'a 90 minutes into the mountains. The week was extremely successful and equally enjoyable. The slightly smaller group size of sixty VOSH volunteers and fewer specialties made it easier to house, manage, and interact with fellow missionaries. The optometry and dental students were hard working, talented, and very enjoyable, a joy to have with us. We also had a good number of former students returning as doctors this year. We partnered with The Dorado Rotary Club of Panama City once more. Our groups united along with many Panamanian Doctors, translators, and volunteers to care for almost four thousand needy patients in just four days. The amazing thing is that this was accomplished with roughly twenty percent less VOSH volunteers than the prior year.
The break down of each clinic is listed below.
